Privacy Policy

1. Overview (Plain English)
Saient is built on a local-first, user-intent model.
- Your prompts, models, images, audio and outputs stay on your device
- The AI runs locally, not on our servers
- We do not train models on your data
- We do not inspect, sell, or profile your content
- Autonomous agent steps run only after you select a project and enable the relevant mode and permissions
2. Who We Are
Saient is a UK-based software project that publishes a desktop application for running AI models locally on consumer hardware. We are the publisher of software, not a cloud AI service.
3. What Data We Collect (Minimal by Design)
The Software
Saient runs locally and:
- Does not transmit your prompts, images, audio, models, or outputs
- Does not send your local inference prompts or outputs to Saient servers
- Does not include hidden analytics
- Does not require a Saient account, payment or product key
Network requests occur when you deliberately download a model or update, or permit a network-enabled agent action. Those requests go to the service you selected and are subject to that service's policy.
The Website
When you visit saient.co.uk we may collect basic technical data (IP address, browser/device type) and anonymous usage metrics, used only to keep the site working, prevent abuse, and understand general traffic trends. No personal profiling, no cross-site tracking.
4. No Saient Payment or Account
The current Saient desktop build is free and does not require checkout, an account or a product key. The website therefore does not collect payment details to unlock the application.
5. User Intent & Responsibility
You choose the models, inputs, project, autonomy level and permissions. When autonomous mode is enabled, the agent can continue within that scope without a fresh prompt for every step. You control local storage, deletion and backups. Responsibility for content created using the software lies with the user, not the publisher.
6. AI Models & Training
Saient does not collect training data from users, fine-tune models on user content, or upload prompts or outputs to third parties. Third-party models you download are governed by their own licenses, not ours.
7. Cookies
The website may use essential cookies for functionality and, if enabled, optional analytics cookies. It does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. You can disable cookies in your browser at any time.
8. Legal Basis (UK GDPR)
Our lawful bases are legitimate interest (site security and basic operational analytics) and consent where applicable. We do not rely on automated decision-making or profiling.
9. Data Retention
- Website logs are retained for a limited period for security and operational purposes
- Local software data is retained only by you — we never had it, so there is nothing for us to delete if you uninstall
10. Your Rights
Under UK law you have the right to access your personal data, request correction or deletion, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with the ICO. To exercise these rights, contact chrishall@staticplay.co.uk.
11. Children
Saient is not targeted at children under 13. Local software remains under parental or guardian responsibility where applicable.
12. Changes to This Policy
If UK law changes or Saient’s functionality changes, this policy will be updated. No silent changes, no retroactive surprises.
