The short version
Saient does not have accounts, does not use advertising, and does not include analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not operate an inference server — the AI models run on your phone's own processor and GPU. We do not receive your prompts, your chats, your photos or anything you generate. The app needs the network for exactly two things: downloading model files the first time you use a feature, and performing a web search only when you explicitly ask the assistant to look something up.
What we collect
We collect no personal data through the app. There is no sign-up, no profile, no identifier we assign to you, and no telemetry.
When your device downloads model files from saient.co.uk, our web server records standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, file requested, user agent) in the same way any website does. These logs are used to operate and secure the service and are not linked to any identity or profile. They are not used for advertising or profiling.
What stays on your device
All of the following are processed locally and stored in the application's private storage, which other apps cannot read:
- Prompts you type, and the text, images and video the models generate
- Your chat history with the on-device language model
- Photos you take or select as input
- The downloaded model files themselves
None of this is transmitted to us. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
When the app uses the internet
There are only three cases:
- Model downloads. The app downloads model files from
saient.co.ukthe first time you use a feature that needs them. Only the file request is sent — never your prompts or content. - Web lookup, only when you ask for it. If you use the assistant's web-search tool, your search term is sent to DuckDuckGo (
html.duckduckgo.com) and/or Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org) to fetch results. Those services receive that query and are governed by their own privacy policies. This happens only for searches you explicitly trigger; ordinary chat, image and video generation never leave the device. - Opening links. Tapping a link in the app (for example, model licence information) opens it in your browser as normal.
After models are downloaded, generation works with Wi-Fi and mobile data switched off.
Why the app asks for each permission
Camera
Only to take a photo you choose to use as input. Images stay on the device. The app does not record audio or video in the background.
Contacts
Only so the assistant can act on a request such as finding a contact. Contact data is read on the device and is never uploaded to us.
Notifications
Required by Android to show the ongoing notification while a generation is running in the foreground service.
Internet
Model downloads and user-initiated web lookups, as described above.
You can revoke any permission in Android Settings; the features that depend on it will simply stop working.
Who else is involved
We do not use third-party AI services. There is no cloud model provider in the loop — the models execute on your device.
The only third parties that can receive anything are DuckDuckGo and Wikipedia, and only the search term for a lookup you explicitly request. We do not share, sell or transfer any user data to anyone, for any purpose, including advertising.
The AI model weights are third-party open-weight releases, downloaded to your device and governed by their own licences. Running them locally does not transmit anything to their authors.
Children
Saient is not directed at children and is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. The app has no social features, no anonymous chat, no user-to-user messaging and no user-generated content sharing.
Your rights and how to exercise them
Because we hold no personal data about app users, there is generally nothing for us to retrieve, correct or erase. Content generated in the app is under your control on your own device and can be deleted in-app or by uninstalling.
Under UK GDPR you retain rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection in respect of any data we do hold (for example, server logs). To exercise them, or to ask anything about this policy, contact us and we will respond within one month.
